Simple client portal
for Airtable

Give your clients a clean, private view of their own data —
no spreadsheet access, no confusion.

Connects to your Airtable base

Plug in your API key and base ID. The portal discovers your tables and fields automatically.

Passwordless login for clients

No passwords to create or forget. Clients get a secure magic link each time they log in.

Each client sees only their data

Records are filtered per client. You control which fields are visible, editable, or hidden entirely.

Built for organizations that manage records on behalf of clients

If you work with families, students, or any group where one person relates to multiple records, Airbud handles that natively.

A parent logs in with their email and immediately sees all of their children's records — and only theirs. Each record can have its own editable fields, read-only fields, and a confirmation checkbox so you can track who has reviewed what.

Perfect for schools, tutoring centers, and enrichment programs to replace email back-and-forth with a clean, self-service portal.

Airbud works with any Airtable plan, including free. Airtable enforces a limit of 5 requests per second per base, plus monthly call limits: 1,000 calls/month on Free and 100,000 calls/month on Team. Each client page load uses a small number of calls. See Airtable's API limit documentation for details.

Frequently Asked Questions

What Airtable plan do I need?

Any Airtable plan works, including the free plan. Free plans allow 1,000 API calls per month — enough for small or low-traffic portals. Team plans allow 100,000 calls per month, which suits most active portals. Each client page load uses a small number of API calls.

Does Airbud store my Airtable data?

No. Your data lives in Airtable. Airbud reads it on demand to display to your clients and never copies or caches it.

What does Airbud store?

Your Airtable API key, base configuration, field settings, and client login info (email addresses and login codes). Nothing else.

Is my API key safe?

It's stored securely and only used to fetch your data. We never share it.

How do I know how many API calls I've used?

On the Free plan, usage is visible in your workspace settings. See Airtable's documentation for where to find it. On Team plans and above, Airtable does not provide granular API usage tracking.

Do my clients need an Airtable account?

No. They just log in with their email address — no Airtable account, no passwords.

How does client login work?

Clients receive a one-time code and magic link via email. One click and they're in.

About

Airbud was built by Mike Pechter, a data and strategy specialist who has done strategic consulting with a number of organizations and nonprofits. He knows how useful Airtable can be, and how valuable a simple portal can be for smaller organizations on a fixed budget.

When he isn't sitting at a computer, he is playing the piano, running in the woods, or feeding his chatty kids.
